Become a supporter
Terl's mission to help people gain relief through technology needs supporters. There are various reasons why people become Terl supporters, most of them are outlined below. Becoming a Terl supporter enables you to also receive discounts and rewards.

Support us because you share our vision
We want a world where people are helped through technology. This is a big vision but our projects and services help us speak volumes. We believe in Recordo because we believe in everybody having their own space which can help with mental health and with dementia related issues. We are creating Tholin because we can see the impact of such a payment system.
Support us because of our commitment to open-source
The first working project we ever released to the public was actually a free, open-source code library that provided developers with easy-to-use cryptography functions called Lazysodium.
It's true that we needed to create Lazysodium anyway for our paid-for service Recordo, but we decided to open-source Lazysodium to provide devs with a better experience with cryptography than ever before so that they can then make applications that enhance your privacy and security. Then we also decided to open-source Recordo!
But there's a massive problem... If we're releasing our software for free, money becomes an issue. Open-source isn't well funded, if at all. Most open-source projects are disbanded due to several reasons, mainly money and time.
It's not just small projects that suffer from abandonment. Larger projects backed by companies often are abandoned because the company went out of business and now the open-source project has no money and no developers to rely on for its continued maintenance. This poses an issue because other projects may have relied on that now-defunct project heavily.
In order for open-source projects to continue to be maintained we realised our open-source projects need to:
- Be funded separately from our paid-for services.
- Be generalised so that any proficient developer or company can continue to work with the project long after we're gone.
- Be of a high quality so that developers can drop them into their projects easily.
Support us because we are a social enterprise
One of the reasons why Terl was setup is because the purpose of helping people through technology is so often an afterthought for many companies. It's rarely the sole focus of a business' mission. Can we blame them though? With a huge number of startups failing within the first year, companies should not be demonised for thinking about socio-conscious projects till later on when they are profitable.
However this poses a conflict of interest later on. As the values of being socially conscious have not been written into those companies' DNA from the start, it creates a huge incentive problem. The company, e.g the shareholders, wants the company to make money but being socio-conscious projects are all about making people's lives better rather than making money. So what's it to be? Make money or better people's lives?
Terl was setup to be socially conscious from the start. We're a social enterprise that puts people first. Being a social enterprise means that we do make money like a regular company but we give back to communities. In fact, our first few projects were open-source and made available to the tech community.
Support us because you want our services to run forever
You may not use Recordo, but you want it to continue to run because a parent or carer uses it. You may not use Lazysodium, but you believe in its potential. Some of our services are critical to some people and you want us to continue actively maintaining it.
Support us because you feel like it
There could be a number of different reasons why you may want to support us. One of them being that you just want to.
